A twist on a the classic cavatelli and broccoli.
My father created this dish years ago while working as a chef in a restaurant, and has remained a family staple ever since then. It is the perfect comfort food, and one of my all time favorite meals. I am so happy to be able to share this recipe so that other people can enjoy it as much as my family does.
Ingredients
1 lb frozen cavatelli
2 cups cooked broccoli, slightly chopped
3/4 cups mushrooms, chopped
1 1/2 pints heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon chicken stock
3 heaping tbs Pecorino Romano cheese
Directions
Cook cavatelli as per package. In a large nonstick pan, melt butter with chicken stock. Add broccoli, mushrooms and ham. Sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes. Add heavy cream, bring to boil. Once it's brought to a boil, let simmer about 20 minutes. Toss in cavatelli and cheese , mix and serve.
