A sweet traditional Brazilian dessert.
Brigadeiros are the national dessert of Brazil, and re featured at every celebratory event. This recipe has been given to me from my sister in law, Rebecca. Rebecca has been a member of my family for 8 years, and her and my brother Eddie actually got married this past summer! When Eddie and Rebecca first started dating, brigadeiros were one of the first desserts she made for my family, and I still remember the first time she made them for us. I am very thankful that Rebecca has shared this special family tradition with me.
Brigadeiros
Ingredients
1 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp Nesquik powder
1 cup chocolate sprinkles
14 oz sweet condensed milk
Directions
Grease a dinner plate with butter. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom so it does not burn. Cook until you can see the bottom of the pan for a few seconds, but still runs. Pour onto greased plate and chill for an hour. Form into one inch balls and roll in chocolate sprinkles.
* For the peanut variety, called Cajuzinho, replace the Nesquik powder with peanut butter.
